What a pre-authorization is
A pre-authorization (hold) reserves funds on your card to confirm they are available. It is not a completed charge. Your bank may show it as pending until we capture it or release it.
What is charged and what is held
When you book, we charge the $19.99 plus HST booking fee immediately. At the same time we place a hold for the rest of the price: the rental package, delivery and pickup fees, and tax on that remainder. A rental shorter than 7 days is still held at the 7-day package price.
Capture vs release
We capture the hold when the bin is delivered. If you cancel before delivery, we release the hold. Cancel at least 24 hours before drop-off and the booking fee is refunded as well. Cancel inside those 24 hours and the booking fee is kept. After delivery, the captured rental is not refunded.
Questions
If a hold looks incorrect, contact [email protected] with your order ID and the last four digits of the card. Your bank decides how quickly a released hold disappears. This page matches the current booking rules and is still a working draft pending counsel review.
